    About us

Father Joseph Bihn and Elizabeth Schaefer founded the Sisters of St. Francis of Tiffin, Ohio, in 1869, just after the Civil War, to care for orphans and the elderly.

The Tiffin Franciscans today minister to the needs of the Church, discerning the needs of the times and the gifts they bring to the people of God.

Our sisters and associates continue the Mission of Jesus in the spirit of Saint Francis and Saint Clare, rejoicing in our call as we live in the 21st century.
